Regent Seven Seas Offers Australian Food Land Program
January 31, 2008
Regent Seven Seas Cruises is featuring a journey through Australia’s wine region this fall, with stays at boutique hotels, meals paired with regional wines, and exclusive tastings at vineyards. The “Australian Food and Wine Experience” is a six-night, pre-cruise Circles of Interest enrichment program being offered before a 13-night, Sydney-to-Auckland cruise aboard the Seven Seas Mariner departing Nov. 19. This is the first Circle of Interest that features an extensive land program.
The program, which starts Nov. 13, begins in Melbourne and proceeds to Yarra Valley for a two-night stay at Chateau Yering. From this base, guests can visit wineries such as De Bartoli, Yering Station, Green Point and Coldstream Hills. Guests then return to Melbourne for a visit with author and chef Allan Campion. After a flight to Sydney, guests travel to the Hunter Valley for a two-night stay at Peppers Guest House with a dinner at Rock restaurant. The group will be joined by husband-and-wife team Karina Barry (former chef of the Savoy Hotel in London) and Brian Barry (a wine educator with 25 years experience). They will lead the group in a private tasting at the Binnorie Cheese Factory, followed by a hands-on cooking class using organic produce.
Other highlights include a dinner at Robert’s Restaurant and a visit to wineries led by winemaker Richard Everett. Wineries include such names as Lindemans, McWilliams, Rothbury, Hardy’s, Wyndham Estate, McGuigan and Hunter Resort. Guests then travel back to Sydney for a two-night stay at the Shangri-La Hotel. From the hotel, guests will enjoy an escorted “gourmet walkabout” to the Sydney Fish Market and the gourmet food shops of Queen Street including Simon Johnson and Jones the Grocer, followed by a wine tasting with a local expert and a meal at Catalina’s restaurant overlooking Sydney Harbor. A hands-on cooking class rounds off the first day’s activities. The final day in Sydney is spent on a tour of the city and its surroundings, followed by an exclusive lunch-cruise charter. The tour ends at the Sydney Cruise Terminal for embarkation. The Food and Wine Circle of Interest will continue onboard, where participants will join their fellow Circle guests for wine tastings, an exclusive dinner, and more. The “Australian Food and Wine Experience” is priced at $6,495 per person, exclusive of cruise fare.
Regent Seven Seas to Host PBS Political Pundits
January 18, 2008
Regent Seven Seas Cruises set to host political pundits on two cruises this year. Regent’s Public Television at Sea (PTV at Sea) cruises, part of its Spotlight Series enrichment program, depart April 7 aboard the 490-guest Seven Seas Navigator, and Nov. 15 aboard the 700-guest Seven Seas Voyager. The April 7 cruise will focus on a post-primary political discussion. Gwen Ifill, host of “Washington Week,” PBS’s political program, will lead a panel of journalists in an examination of the 2008 presidential campaign. The cruise is a roundtrip to Bermuda from Fort Lauderdale. On the panel will be Dan Balz, national political correspondent for The Washington Post; Martha Raddatz, chief White House correspondent for ABC News; and political analyst Charlie Cook of The Cook Political Report. Per-person rates start at $4,295.
The Nov. 15 cruise will feature historian Ric Burns, who will discuss his films, including the documentary “The History of New York,” and producer Jac Venza will discuss the history of one of PBS’s longest-running shows, “Great Performances,” during the 16-night transatlantic cruise from Rome to Fort Lauderdale. Per-person rates start at $5,795. Regent’s PTV at Sea cruises are offered in partnership with locally based PBS stations nationwide and Artful Travelers, which pairs art, culture, entertainment and travel. PTV at Sea guests will have opportunities to meet and mingle with their public broadcasting personalities at dinners, cocktail parties, shore excursions and other organized events during both voyages
Regent Seven Seas Cruises Launches Destination Wedding Program
July 16, 2007
Fort Lauderdale - July 10, 2007 - Regent Seven Seas CruisesSM announced a new program for guests as part of The Regent Travel ConciergeSM: custom-tailored wedding planning services are now offered for Regent guests wishing to exchange their vows in select ports of call worldwide. This newly expanded service of The Regent Travel Concierge is made possible through a partnership with cruise destination wedding experts Royal Ocean Events.
“As destination weddings and vow renewal ceremonies continue to increase in popularity, we are delighted to offer Regent Seven Seas guests a new service to assist them in planning a truly one-of-a-kind wedding abroad,” said Darius Mehta, Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ director of land programs and creator of The Regent Travel Concierge program.
The Regent Travel Concierge was created to provide guests custom-tailored shore experiences based on personal interests and desires - from shorter excursions in particular ports of call to extended pre- and post-cruise land programs.
Guests wishing to plan a wedding or vow renewal ceremony as part of a Regent cruise will be paired by The Regent Travel Concierge team with a personal consultant from Royal Ocean Events who can assist them in planning the wedding of their dreams. Although weddings planned by Royal Ocean Events typically include an officiant, marriage certificate, wedding cake and champagne, there is no pre-arranged menu of wedding packages for Regent guests; each guest will receive a personal consultation on unique ways they can celebrate their vows in one of many ports of call world-wide. From a sunset wedding along the banks of an uninhabited South Pacific island to a kilted ceremony in an ancient Scottish castle accompanied by a band of Highland bagpipers, to an intimate ceremony in the company of a hundred Antarctic penguins, the options are limitless.
“We are pleased to partner with Regent Seven Seas Cruises, to offer truly extraordinary wedding experiences,” said Chris Scurr, marketing director for Royal Ocean Events. “The sky won’t even be the limit - if a Regent guest wishes to get married in a hot air balloon over a tropical pineapple plantation, or take a helicopter to a glistening Alaskan glacier, we can do that.”
Based in Vancouver, Canada, the team of experts at Royal Ocean Events has planned thousands of cruise weddings in its 10-year history. The company’s wedding planners offers guests in-depth knowledge not only of romantic venues around the world, but how best to navigate the logistical elements of obtaining a marriage license in a foreign country.
Regent Seven Seas Cruises, the world’s largest luxury cruise line, offers voyages of exploration and discovery to more than 300 ports on six continents, including Antarctica.

Regent Seven Seas Modifies Smoking Policy
July 16, 2007
Cigarette smoking is not permitted in any enclosed dining areas, whether it be the ships’ main dining rooms or the alternate dining venues. Cigarette smoking is only permitted in designated areas of the outdoor Pool Grills. Other than open deck areas, the following are the only public rooms or areas where cigarette smoking is now permitted:
Seven Seas Voyager: Connoisseur Club, Casino, Voyager Lounge (designated area), Horizon Lounge (outside area only), Pool Bar
Seven Seas Mariner: Connoisseur Club, Casino, Horizon Lounge (outside area only), Stars Nightclub (designated area), Pool Bar
Seven Seas Navigator: Connoisseur Club, Casino, Stars Lounge (designated area), Galileo’s (outside area only), Pool Bar
Paul Gauguin: La Palette (outside area only), Le Grill (designated area), Pool Bar
Explorer II: Smoking Lounge on Bridge Deck
Pipe smoking is only permitted in the Connoisseur Club aboard Seven Seas Voyager, Mariner and Navigator. Pipe smoking in open deck areas is considered an extreme fire hazard and is not permitted. Cigar smoking is only permitted in the Connoisseur Club aboard Seven Seas Voyager, Mariner and Navigator, and in the designated area of the Pool Bar area aboard all four vessels.
Update as of July 5, 2007:
In light of continuing legislative changes in smoking policies around the world as well as the comfort, health and safety of our guests and crew, both in terms of the proven dangers of second hand smoke and the fire hazard that smoking presents, Regent Seven Seas Cruises will be changing our policy of smoking in staterooms, suites and on private balconies. Not only does smoking present a fire hazard, but it is also an inconvenience to other guests as the smoke, or its odor, invades surrounding suites, balconies and public areas, creating discomfort for the guests in these areas. Smoking will therefore be prohibited in all staterooms, suites and balconies fleet-wide.
This change will take effect on the following dates:
Seven Seas Voyager: December 21, 2007
Seven Seas Mariner: December 21, 2007
Seven Seas Navigator: December 27, 2007
Paul Gauguin: December 29, 2007
Explorer II: January 21 and February 1, 2008
(The Regent smoking policy applies to full-ship charters of Explorer II.)
Failure to comply with this ban will result in guests being asked to leave the ship at their expense, without refund or credit for the unused portion of their cruise.
